Johnny- as written by Chiropractic Asst., Jessica Lynn Blazier
I am not a Chiropractor, I am a Chiropractic Assistant. I work directly with my Chiropractor to meet the needs of our new and existing patients. I pride myself in the ability to educate all of our patients about the benefits of Chiropractic care! With this said, I’d like to share with you something that I find to be absolutely amazing…
Last week I met with a 4 year old boy who was having new bedwetting symptoms and chest pains (lung related).
In his exam I was explaining the spine and a subluxation, “These yellow things are called nerves. They go out to your organs and body parts. If a bone moves out of place, you can feel pain or sometimes you’ll have accidents, like at night when you don’t mean to. It’s your body telling you something is not in place. Our doctor can put these bones back where they should be and you’ll start feeling better and you probably won’t have accidents!”
I also explained to him that the skull protects your brain, but that isn’t shown on my model. He was very receptive.
After his first adjustment, he slept REALLY well and didn’t have ANY accidents! (YAY!) After his second adjustment he was feeling better, slept well and still NO accidents! (Whoo hoo!!!)
Yesterday was his 7 year old sister’s exam. While I was talking to her about what’s going on, he interrupted to explain to his sister that, “These are nerves. They are why we feel pain if this moves (he moved the vertebrae on our model of the spine).” When he was moving the skull part, his sister asked what it was and he replied, “It’s a shield.”
His mom and I both smiled, and she told him, “Yes, the skull is a shield for your brain.” Monday he celebrated his 5th birthday. You know, I have some adult practice members that don’t understand a subluxation and many cannot explain why they come to the chiropractor… They just know they feel better when they come in for care. This little 5 year old just grasped the simple logic. I pray we will continue to improve the health and well-being of many other children in our community. Enhancing a child’s sports performance, attention span during school, improving their behavior by reducing/eliminating their pain and teaching them about the wonders of the human body is important. Together we can achieve a healthier community and reduce the use of unnecessary prescription medication for both children and adults alike, through the power of a chiropractic adjustment!
With love,
Your child-loving Chiropractic Assistant and Educator,
Jessica Lynn
