On Purpose - Case of the Month - September 2011 - Furio

A 15 month old (Furio) presented to our office w/ Interstitial Lung Disease weighing 22 lbs, no food by mouth, could not turn his head to the right, restless, anxious, quiet, zoned out, and 3 liters of oxygen/minute. His next option being a neurologist and biopsy of muscle and possible nerve and other tissues. We began checking him daily.

After 7 days of being checked and adjusted, Furio is alert, smiling, cooing, attempting to formulate words, turning his head to the right, is able to control his upper body without falling to one side and becoming weak. He is down to 1 1/2 liters/oxygen/minute and his mom thinks he will be down to 1 liter/minute soon. He has life in his eyes and is eating foods by mouth. With his speech therapist on board and excited he is motoring his tongue, loving his adjustments, and I am pretty sure he has attempted every time to flirt with a member of my staff. We will continue to check him every day. I am awed by the life that exudes from him. He radiates joy and you can literally witness his innate functioning. He looks alive. Am I amazed? Not with the fact that chiropractic was able to re-balance his nervous system but with every new member to my practice I am constantly awed by the power of the human body when life is fully expressed. I am awed at Innate for its beauty and its intricacy. Furio is a living testimony of the power of chiropractic.
